"Job Destruction: Where Did All the Jobs Go?"

Posted by Cole Gunther
Friday, September 26, 2003

Earlier this year, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton joined "Tata
Consultancy Services (TCS), Asias largest information technology
firm and Americas second fastest-growing IT [information technology]
consultancy" to announce the opening of Tata's "newest North American
office in Buffalo, New York." All this is according to Tata itself.

Let's take a look at how the Clinton-Tata announcement fits in
with the most important job-related question of the day which is,
''Where did all the jobs go?''

Playing no games, it must be stated up-front that no overall,
final statement of impact by Tata on the citizens of New York is at
hand, but if history teaches us anything, very bad news is coming to
New York sooner or later.

Everywhere else in America, just as in Silicon Valley, jobs are
disappearing faster than you can say boo. The same goes for your job
too. That is unless you deliver pizza or drive a cab and those are the
exact jobs many of us are doing, being thankful to have a job.

America may literally be finished if we do not immediately stop
the escalating joblessness we face. And stopping the problem is going
to require understanding how we got where we are.

On one front, the disappearance of jobs is caused in part
because American corporations have continued hiring programmers in
foreign countries at an alarming rate. So there is a lower total
number of jobs available. This is simple math.

In India and other locations, American CEO's are continuing to
find replacements at $9,000 a year or less for disposable American
programmers who were paid $55 - 65,000 a year before they were laid off
to be replaced by ''cheap foreign labor.'' This practice is called
offshoring.

Offshoring is the latest rage in which American jobs are
outsourced or contracted out, way out, offshore to a foreign country.
American jobs by the millions are being swallowed up, disappearing into
countries with third-world economies. With a straight face, government
economists calmly report that, when these jobs leave the country, they
are gone forever.

Offshoring of information technology, accounting, call center,
and every other type of exportable job is just the latest version of
the rampant job destruction we have witnessed in the manufacturing
sector. Job destruction has been going on longer than most people
realize and it is a long, brutal story coming to your workplace soon.

Obvious as it is, bear in mind that given any particular period
of time, there are a finite number of jobs in the country. Fewer jobs
means more unemployed competition for cab driving and pizza delivery
jobs. This is a simple fact faced by computer programmers in
California and every type of service sector employee, everywhere in the
U.S. today.

Potential joblessness created by the offshoring trend is a
miserable fact that all Americans need to think about as long as they
need to work or have access to any service supported by tax revenues.
The American way of life has been permanently altered.

It is a bold faced lie that Americans will not work for $6.00
per hour. Plenty of laid off professionals are doing it now, as real
life Americans have always done during passing emergency periods. The
story is different now. Scads of Americans from working class families
have always worked their way into their white collars, respecting white
collar and working class Americans alike because we were all part of
the real life economy. Before the rise of the CEO class there was a
real life experience called the American dream.

Now, hundreds of corporations are sending the American dream to
India, Pakistan, the Philippines, China and anywhere else they can find
cheap labor. This is happening when our President is begging India and
every other U.N. country to shoulder a tiny share of the burdens of
simple survival on our terror ridden planet.

As they permanently offshore millions of jobs, the same CEO
class -- we are going somewhere with these class references--that
raided your 401K have been saying offshoring is a necessary ''cost
cutting'' strategy. Cost cutting does fit their approach to profit
taking. And, economic analysts know and report the cost cutting
corporate cover story is far less than a complete explanation of
offshoring. The Americans who lose their jobs say the CEO's are lying,
pursuing their never ending, greed driven search for cheap labor and
short term profits.

Off to the side, informed observers point out these CEO's are
also greedily seeking lucrative, first time business investments in
so-called emerging markets in places like China, Brazil, India, the
Philippines and elsewhere. CEO's are in fact using offshoring to set
up future investments in other countries. To the condescending quote,
''Let them eat cake'' the man on the street is responding with, ''And
you can eat the guillotine blade.''

Among the litany of abuses endured by disposable Americans,
before being laid off they are being required to train their foreign
replacements. Some of the foreign companies who take jobs away from
Americans have offices in the U.S. but refuse to give Americans job
interviews. Offshore, in India for instance, it is not legal to hire
Americans. That's right, and it may explain the discrimination faced
by American job seekers in their homeland. Companies actually post job
announcements for jobs to be done in the U.S. which require that
applicants be ''H-1B visa holders'' who can only be foreign citizens.
H-1B employees are brought to the U.S. by all sorts of companies and
you need to know more about ongoing reports about Congressional
deceptions in this regard. Keep reading, please.

Abused Americans rightly point out that American CEO's are
fueling a ''race to the bottom'' leading to an America which is nothing
more than a third-rate, third world country itself. This race is
better thought of as a war or three wars rolled into one.

In opposition to the race to the bottom, a literal army of your
well informed, level-headed and diligent fellow Americans have been
engaged in long term, persistent protests of the destruction of
American jobs. Pointing out that destruction of American jobs is
destruction of the American economy and America itself, this army has
directed their protestations to their elected representatives in
Congress, some for more than a decade, to no avail.

While we are in a death match with terrorism, informed observers
of American efforts to save American jobs understand why, after years
of having their pleas ignored, laid off, unemployed and chronically
underemployed Americans are now calling the responsible CEO's traitors.
Some long term advocates for saving America's jobs now also call
members of Congress traitors.

Jobless people are especially incensed by members of Congress
who also are members of organizations like IndiaPac. With a list of
members published on the Internet, IndiaPac is a lobbying effort that
effectively gets the attention and cooperation of other U.S. Senators
and Representatives. IndiaPac does the bidding of Indian Americans;
they also do the bidding of foreign interests. And they get plenty of
assistance from other organizations which reportedly are barely
disguised, professional scams.

Condemnations of so-called Congressional traitors fit right in
with dismissive reactions reported in the foreign media which say
American protests are irrelevant and will be overcome by lobbying in
conjunction with the American government class.

Yes, American leaders are referred to as the government class by
Indian pressure groups. Government class is a term originating in the
still existing, more or less rigid, caste system of traditional India.
It is another foreign comment about the irrelevance of what we in
America call the will of the people, regardless of class.

Offshoring is the third war being fought by discarded and
jobless Americans from engineering, manufacturing, information
technology and an ever lengthening list including every conceivable
occupation that can be sent offshore into the hands of a never ending
supply of cheap labor. Cheap labor was the dividing line between the
American dream and the rest of the world we have always assisted with
trillions of dollars in foreign aid and billions of dollars of
nongovernmental assistance.

Pharmaceutical, financial services, all classes of American jobs
are going, going, gone! Accenture, H-P, Intel, Sprint, and companies by
the hundreds are terminating American jobs, sending them offshore.

The offshoring frenzy has created demand for ''offshoring
specialist'' firms. These are companies for hire to show other
corporations ''how to do it.'' These firms are springing up daily.
Many are foreign corporations that throw lavish gatherings and
conventions to attract more American companies to offshore more
American jobs--permanently. All of this, all before the first war on
American jobs is over.

The first war is being fought over loss of jobs to foreign
citizens brought to the U.S. on non-immigrant visas. For years,
American corporations have been obtaining visas for foreign citizens
and hiring them to replace American employees. In the process, a
shocking number of lies by corporate personnel and violations of law
have been documented by the army of Americans who have been registering
their obvious need for help with their state legislatures, Congress,
the media, and other groups of concerned American citizens. According
to several sources, even our tax subsidized institutions of higher
education are involved in an array of bewildering attacks on the
American way of life, to use the term invoked by President Bush in a
recent, exclusive interview given to the esteemed Brit Hume

Non-immigrant visas, or NIV's, go by an alphabet-soup like array
of alpha-numeric names: H-1B, L-1, et cetera. More visa categories are
being proposed by members of Congress as they maneuver to ignore
protests. Millions of contacts have been made by phone, fax, e-mail,
letter, individual and group visits to members of Congress. But after
all, these protests are only coming from the tax paying voter class.

Before you pass out from alpha-numeric symbol shock, help is
available from a resource appropriately named the Job Destruction
Newsletter which is available online. The respected Newsletter author,
Rob Sanchez, is more well informed than a gunnery sergeant turned four
star general when it comes to combating corporate lies, Congressional
deception and being ignored by the media. His carefully aimed, fact
based criticisms are echoed by all of his peers and he has many.

Fighting both the offshoring and non-immigrant H-1B, L-1 visa
wars, Mr. Sanchez has provided research assistance and information to
no less than the likes of Michelle Malkin. Malkin is the provocative,
ebullient columnist and author of a bible on illegal immigration and
official deception aptly titled ''Invasion'' Her book is first born,
blood kin to Ann Coulter's recent book. Malkin and her work have wide
appeal featuring in interviews all over the political spectrum from
Brain Lamb at C-SPAN to Fox News where she is a regular contributor.
Her work is seldom if ever successfully challenged on factual grounds
and is well received by audiences. For one, Malkin shined a very
bright light on one massive boondoggle by the former Immigration and
Naturalization Service. It almost requires an expert to know these
things and that is where Mr. Sanchez enters our story.

Make no mistake, Sanchez is an equal opportunity tactician
standing shoulder to shoulder in a front line of battle commanders from
nearly every walk of American life. All of these battle commanders are
promising action.

A veritable phalanx of battle commanders is well prepared to
continue the battle with lies, deceptions and outright ignorant,
anti-American lack of attention by much of the mainstream media, left,
right and center. Their web sites and meetings are laden with facts.
Some of these activists responded to the previous posting here entitled
''Protecting Our Borders, Our Jobs, and Our Lives'' and they are now an
organized salty battle front, many with political capital of their own.
Please continue reading what they have been doing for you.

Escalating into a crescendo in the past five months, the battle
leaders successfully have recruited co-commanders and thousands of
dedicated front line soldiers and they are succeeding at getting media
attention. Sanchez would be the first to point out he is not any sort
of official commander-in-chief. There are dozens, probably hundreds of
allied commanders, each with a loyal cadre they are throwing into the
fray in every conceivable way.

Some activist group leaders focus on collective bargaining and
the growing support for unionization of white collar professionals.
More than a few of those in favor of formally organizing are
conservative Republicans. Some American flag waving protesters have
gotten attention in local media outlets in and around Concord and San
Francisco, California, in Texas, and in some eastern states. This
attention has no doubt contributed to the national attention now given
as an easy out for the national media in their delicate, over-due
attention to the destruction of America's economic ability to survive.
Ever fearful in their own business dealings, national media players
know the messenger is often murdered, in their own ranks and ratings if
nowhere else. The point man always gets killed first.

Point man Sanchez publishes visa statistics from a variety of
sources including the Department of Homeland Security. And recently,
more attempts to ''contract out'' certain functions of the Department
of Homeland Security have been circulating on the Internet. The idea
of contracting out Department of Homeland Security jobs would hopefully
stop short of going offshore.

Providing for national security and allowing free markets to
operate without government intervention are two important American
traditions that have competed with each other throughout the history of
our nation. But the offshoring of DHS work conjures images giving
pause to the bravest patriots who have spent time in Southeast Asia,
Central and South America, Afghanistan, and Iraq . . . Beirut, the Beka
Valley, Syria and . . . Those who will say this is far fetched fear
mongering need to double check whether members of the Republican party
really did offshore fund raising work to India, whether the Pentagon
offshores manufacturing of critical defense technology.

The Job Destruction Newsletter is frequently filled with battle
reports that pour in from other allied commanders. Significantly, the
Newsletter is always brimming with factual battlefield data. The facts
are that Americans in droves have lost their jobs, their employability,
their life savings. With 401K's wiped out they have lost their homes,
their families and in some cases have committed suicide. Pause for a
moment and consider these infrequently told but grim facts.

Dismissed under other pretenses in national coverage given to
small town Americans presented as rubes and only in extreme and
criminal instances, perhaps some high-profile murder-suicides have been
the result of the true hopelessness surrounding ever increasing job
insecurity and mass lay offs that Americans have come to dread.

The Job Destruction Newsletter details a mountain of facts
concerning job destruction legislation proposed by members of Congress,
reports of groups being denied requested opportunities to testify to
Congressional committees and other easily confirmed hard data.
Frequently, facts take up more space in the Newsletter than commentary.
Sanchez often lists companies like Tata of India, Ingersoll-Rand,
Intel, and other organizations, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce,
as being actively involved in lobbying to destroy American jobs.

Bear in mind, the Job Destruction Newsletter is just one of many
which document the ever expanding destruction of the American way of
life by lying CEO's, impervious law makers and foreign corporations
with operations in the U.S. Some of these companies, incorporated
offshore, dodge the tax burden imposed by our aging infrastructures,
the War on Terrorism and foreign aid. Reasonably, many abused and
discarded Americans ask, "what about domestic aid?"

What about simple domestic concerns? Our trade deficit is an
unreal figure that must be double checked to be believed. Is it
trillions? What is the next highest real number in the ascending
sequence?

In part, our deficit is driven by manufacturing trade deficits.
Recalling the destruction of American manufacturing we all can easily
see what is coming in other sectors of the economy. Or can we all
easily see? The Pentagon does use foreign corporations to manufacture
critical defense technology. Yes, in a suicidal spate of bad judgment,
yes, at the Pentagon, that place that was attacked by a plane filled
with world citizens, fuel and terrorists. That strangely shaped
building that fell apart! Did anyone die in that story? Those
terrorists in the plane were from Somalia, right? It is no joke that
September 11, 2001, is fading from memory.

In the latest issue of the Newsletter serious questions are
voiced concerning fair representation of facts and citizen input to
members of the Senate Judiciary Committee. These are grave matters.
It would demean the extensive efforts of tax paying voters to present
only snap shots and partial explanations of their work. So Mr. Sanchez
has given permission to publish the Job Destruction Newsletter's e-mail
address. Send e-mail to to get on the free mailing
list for the Newsletter. You will not like what you read but please do
get on the list for future reference. Yes, there is more job
destruction on the way, coming to a work place near you, your daughter,
your brother, mother, father, or neighbor.

"Job Destruction: Where Have All the Jobs Gone? (Part 2)"

Posted by Cole Gunther
Saturday, September 27, 2003

Editor's Note: Cole Gunther continues to discuss the loss of jobs in
the United States to "offshoring,'' or the sending of jobs to
cheap-labor countries overseas. To read Part 1, click on Dr. Gunther's
article for Friday.

Frankly, through Robb Sanchez's sense of humor, some items like
his ''Three Stooges From Arizona'' demonstrate that Sanchez has an
indomitable spirit in the face of the grim realities he documents. He
has turned the ''Stooges'' theme into a slapstick comedy series of
reports well worth reading for their factual content, washing it down
with a precious draft of humor. Hit him again, he can take it. He's
uh-Merican, right? Sanchez and his colleagues have us all covered
with the millions of contacts they have made with Congress, right?

Please pardon silly humor but grave issues demand some sort of
relief--some sort of break--to be able to continue. Sanchez vows he
will be there at the bloody end, not his words. Again, frankly, it is
hard to read how he sees the ultimate end game. Sometimes his
commentary broods but there is no end to his soldiering. End is a word
that seems to be absent from the man's vocabulary. Seriously, is he an
American fool?

For at least five months Lou Dobbs in his CNN program has been
presenting the ''Exporting America" series. Recently Lou's tones have
been uncharacteristically bold for the quintessential referee as he
serves up his own detailed portrayal of the destruction of our economy
and our country. Dobbs has been crystal clear on the importance of
analyzing economic and security threats, ''in the context of American
values and traditions.'' Dobbs' presentations bring to mind memories
of the teaming side streets in places like Macau, Manila or Mexico
City, accompanied by the depressing mood that prevails in visits to the
third world.

Ever the one to call for policy, Dobbs informs us that
''American corporations must take the lead here. Unemployed Americans
translate into a weaker economy and ultimately will damage the
corporate bottom line.'' He concludes by remarking, ''It is time for
American businesses to begin adding American jobs. They can afford it
and, more important, they can't afford not to. The future they save
may be their own.''

Every single American needs to join the fight to save America
because no job is safe in our ongoing slide into a third world reality,
assisted by CEO's we ''cannot afford'' and officials we better replace,
so say the activists and the facts.

Dobbs at CNN has reported a rising third war being fought to
steal the jobs of our least fortunate working class American brothers
and sisters--jobs that discarded white collar Americans also are now
fighting to get. Bus loads of illegal aliens, who as repeat offenders
work in the U.S. illegally, are planning more tours of the country to
protest denial of benefits afforded, maybe, to discarded American
citizens. Hollywood is providing some of the funds in support of this
LA-LA land assault on America.

The bus tour events are just one more phase in Mexico City's
plan to continue the invasion of America, rather than responsibly
correcting Mexico's failures and corruption, by sending its citizens
north to die in their desert, seeking solutions to Vicente Fox and
Mexico's problems in their phony, barely disguised support of the
Reconquista.

After all, the hard working, hard fighting, fertile Chinese have
stolen all of the subsistence level manufacturing jobs from Mexico. It
is the race to the bottom--morally corrupt governments, traitors and
all.

Sanchez is well aware of and makes token mention of the border
war ravaging his home state of Arizona, leaving that mostly to the
other commanders on some far away field of the battle. True to his
technical training and experience, Sanchez seems to prefer the tedium
of the apha-numeric visa war. He seems to believe the visa war is the
Great War. He says nothing of his own wounds, but his is likely a
rapier thrust casualty of an alpha-numeric wound inflicted by an H-1B
enemy warrior. This is a guess.

Red blooded Americans and their legal alien family have
undergone untold hardships to follow the law, only to be spat upon by
cavalier interlopers claiming unfair treatment in response to attempts
to enforce the law of the American land by bullet-dodging sheriffs,
police officers, dead Border Patrol Agents who dodged too slowly and
American citizens who are portrayed as kooks by the national media
because they prefer not to have narcoterrorists drinking from their
pets' water dishes. No? How else do $75,000,000,000 worth of Chinese
precursor chemicals and Chilean drugs cross our southern border? A
real number? His is a guess intended to force out the truth about how
many tax dollars disappear into porous national borders.

The hardships will not be told by people who gladly take the
pain of following the law from the beginning. With silent dignity they
refuse to forget the corruption back in their homeland wherever that
was. Their working class ethics refuse to beg for handouts of any
kind.

Sustainable American cities, functional infrastructures,
affordable health care for American tax paying voters and balanced
state budgets are hoity-toity hallucinations compared to the gritty
offshoring, visa and border wars.

Not only border security advocates, but sustainability advocates
are toe-to-toe with the floods of Fox's illegal aliens testing our
national survival beyond the breaking point. These activists include
egg-headed professors, pencil pushing librarians and other dangerous
sorts.

Like Dobbs and Sanchez, the sustainability advocates fill their
newsletters with alarming statistics. By way of concrete jungle
example, sustainability activists point to the obvious devastation of
the California economy which is burdened by giving citizen level aid to
Vicente Fox's discarded hordes; Fox's hordes corruptly interjected as
candidates for huddled-masses status in a country with its own huddled
masses working the $6.00 per hour jobs they are thankful to have.

California, Nevada and New Mexico are also assaulting their
fellow Americans by granting legal documents, including driver's
licenses, to Fox's outcasts. With the documents, Fox's discarded
burdens are boarding buses to tell Americans that America is
mistreating them. They will tell a walking wounded army of discarded
Americans, who have lost the fruits of a lifetime of labor, that they
must accept more wounds. This is the part of the story Sanchez keeps
to himself.

Californians provide the legal documents with no documents
required of the recipients in advance. Along with the matricula
consular that spineless officials at the Treasury Department have
allowed Bank of America to accept (along with other perpetrator banks),
there is the security threat of ''bank cards.''

Bank of America proudly issues their SafeSend card allowing
billions of untaxed American dollars to exit our economy, some only for
noble tax dodging purposes. Pray Bank of America objects that other
bank issued cards are responsible for portions of the exiting billions,
then maybe we will have exact figures instead low-ball guesses. Nobody
can say the bank cards do not also facilitate narcoterrorist hawala
schemes -- money laundering of drug and terror profits. It is called
chit, chop shops and names which cannot be typed on a measly American
version of a Microsoft class offshoring keyboard.

At www.zazona.com, links to other groups guide those who are
interested in saving their jobs to a wide assortment of resources sure
to please any real American's political and economic preferences.
Collectively the groups involved in demanding protection for American
jobs have called for, predicted, and, now anticipate that voters will
defeat candidates and incumbents who have failed to protect America's
evaporating jobs. There is an understandably vengeful tone to these
pronouncements from hundreds of activists. Plenty of action is taking
place in states around the country. Again, frankly, some plans are not
for prime time viewing.

Several highly focused groups are actively campaigning against
incumbents with unacceptable records of voting for legislation that
destroys America's jobs. These groups also have drawn bull's-eyes on
each incumbent with a record of voting against legislation that would
protect American jobs. Make no further mistakes, these groups are
specialists gaining increasing sophistication in dealing with
mainstream media and public opinion.

The three wars on American jobs are heating up significantly and
are getting more attention in the mainstream media, due mostly to the
tie in with upcoming elections. Mainstream media move when they sense
incumbent political blood in the water. After all, the media have been
speaking with these so-called elected traitors. These are coldly
reported facts from the front, in the ever expanding war for American
survival.

It is only one of many examples, but the USAProject group is
kicking up a patriotic desert storm in Arizona going after U.S.
Representatives Kolbe and Flake, leaving a deafening silence concerning
Senator McCain.

Your job security, physical security and survival require you to
get more information. That e-mail address again is

Adding to growing political confusion, Wesley Clark is being
perceived by competent political observers from the grass roots to the
capitol as a credible threat in his bid for the White House. Though he
is a viable candidate, he never will close our porous borders.

If candidates and incumbents do not reverse their destruction of
America and American jobs -- and produce new jobs
immediately--motivated American voters well may have their revenge at
the polls.

"Protecting Our Borders, Our Jobs, and Our Lives"

Posted by Cole Gunther
Saturday, September 20, 2003

Editor's Note: This will introduce a new writer for our site, Cole
Gunther, who lives and works in the mid-west. Dr. Gunther has taught
in three university systems, and enjoys writing and researching in the
area of business, media, and public affairs.

~~o~~

The Arizona Republic and the Tucson Citizen have been covering
Arizona's struggle to deal with illegal immigration. They report a
storm of protest swirling around the Border Security and Immigration
Act recently introduced in the U.S. Congress by Arizona Representatives
Flake and Kolbe and Senator John McCain.

Commentary by the Tucson Citizen tells us the Arizona GOP
leadership is ''split'' on border policy. It seems the various parties
to Arizona's ''desert storm'' see different dangers concerning illegal
aliens and our ailing economy.

So, what is the greatest danger facing America today? Weapons,
drugs, and terrorists crossing our porous borders? The weak economy?
Political battles over the war in Iraq?

All of these problems are among the greatest dangers we face.
However, the deadliest danger to American survival today is our failure
to recognize and act on consensus when we have it.

Recently CNN conducted a poll to clarify more specifically what
people are talking about when they discuss ''the economy.'' Are they
talking about the stock market, jobs, or what? Well over 80 percent of
CNN's respondents said ''the economy'' means jobs and employment. Other
polls show more than 80 percent of Americans want more and better
border security. These numbers suggest that while our leaders may be
split on the issues, the people are not. All over the political
landscape, we have consensus about American survival.

The American Conservative Union is the oldest conservative
political groups in America. And they want increases in ''the number
of Border Patrol officers to effectively safeguard our nation's
borders.'' On the other side of the political spectrum, state
Democratic leaders in Michigan want more federal funding for
U.S.-Canadian border security.

Across the U.S., Republican and Democratic state legislators are
backing away from offshore outsourcing of state government contracts,
as well they should. In another good move, legislators also are
backing away from contracting to companies that employ foreign citizens
brought to the U.S. on H-1B and other non-immigrant visas. Moving in
the same direction, the AFL/CIO has recently demanded limits on the
number of non-immigrant visas for foreign workers.

Everybody agrees that America needs more jobs--now. Riots were
reported last June in Benton Harbor, Michigan, where unemployment is
reportedly 40%. It is a sure bet that the rioters would concur with
the course the AFL/CIO is taking.

Henry Kissinger, former secretary of state, has been quoted as
saying that we need ''to develop incentives to prevent increasing
outsourcing of economic activity from the U.S. to other countries.''
Wisely, Kissinger was addressing the big picture of our survival as a
nation. What could be more dangerous than continuing to outsource the
manufacturing of critical defense technology offshore?

Addressing another piece of the survival picture, comments by
Tom Ridge illuminate the massive danger posed by foreign and domestic
access to our infrastructures by workers with loyalties to other
countries. He has said, ''Terrorists can sit at one computer connected
to one network and can create worldwide havoc -- [they] don't
necessarily need [a] bomb or explosives to cripple a sector of the
economy, or shutdown a power grid.'' Offshore outsourcing means that
more and more computers in Bangalore, Beijing, Riyadh, or elsewhere
will be connected to American infrastructures through corporate
networks and the Internet.

Not long after Mr. Ridge's comments, infrastructure experts
participated in a ''Digital Pearl Harbor'' experiment designed to study
the possibility of simultaneous terrorist attacks. A large majority of
participants in the Digital Pearl Harbor study agreed that a
coordinated attack on multiple infrastructures in America was ''likely
in the next two years.''

While defending America, our troops are dying daily inside the
porous borders of Iraq and Afghanistan. Yet, our leaders refuse to
close and defend our porous borders here at home. In support of our
troops, this unendurable hypocrisy by our leaders must be opposed by
all Americans. And most Americans do oppose the hypocrisy.

Groups that study population and economic sustainability have
said for years that America is on the path to self destruction. The
American people agree that we are facing unrelenting attacks on many
fronts.

The war in Iraq, offshore outsourcing, non-immigrant visas,
porous national borders, illegal and out-of-control immigration, the
struggling economy, and terrorist attacks all over the globe are all
pieces of one big ugly picture. It would be helpful if our mainstream
media would do a better job of portraying the big picture by
emphasizing the consensus that citizens have about these problems.

The right view of the big picture is being delivered online
every day in many ways. In weblogs, letters to the editor, e-mail to
talk show hosts, chat sessions, website postings and op-eds, people
advocate pro-American increases in homeland security and protection for
the jobs we have left.

Fearing that we will soon become just one more third-rate, Third
World country, Americans are demanding swifter, more effective action.
In local communities around the country, millions of Americans have
joined the chorus of consensus. In massive numbers, they have written,
e-mailed, called and met with congressional representatives and
senators . . . demanding action over and over and over again.

Our Congress and leaders must implement comprehensive policies
to simultaneously protect our borders, our jobs, and our lives. The
American people need action--now!
