HR 5882 -- horses rule the day

The House Judiciary meeting on Sept. 23 came and went, and fortunately nothing
happened. H.R. 5882 and the other bad bills weren't discussed because they
were so busy talking about whether there should be a federal law to prohibit
humans from eating horse meat.
You can watch the entire hearing by going to this link, but don't expect to
hear anything but debates about horses:

So, it would seem that the threat of approving over 550,000 employment based
green cards is over. The judiciary has scheduled the next two days for topics
that include politics and our failing economy and it seems that immigration
has been pushed aside. I wish there was more information about why this
happened, but of course the good news is that it did.
Before you start celebrating: there is a new threat to push through the Green
Card Increase. This one, by Senator Menendez, may be far more insidious.
Expect more information soon.

Good news from the House. The Judiciary Committee today did not take up H.R.
5882, which would add an additional 550,000 permanent green cards next year,
and H.R. 5924, which would add 20,000 additional foreign nurses per year for
three years (plus their families). It is not known if the Committee will still
consider the bills before recess, or if the bill s proponents will attempt to
attach the measures to another bill destined for passage.
